Return to The Taper's Database Music List for John
Last Update: February 03, 2018
Show Count: 415

Trading Rules:

I'm not doing B+Ps or trades at this time. I'm interested in trading just for shows I've been to that are on my want list and for older Grateful dead and Allman Brothers Band shows from the late 60s, and early 70s.

Trades:

- Please burn your shows DAO (Disc at once) and not TAO (Track at once).

- Please use EAC(Exact Audio Copy [
www.exactaudiocopy.de/]) for extraction.

-NO ON THE FLY BURNING! (transfering files from disc to disc instead of putting them on the hard drive first, this can cause many errors).

- If you don't know how to use EAC, or the difference between TAO/DAO please ask questions.

- Please use high quality discs, not store brand/generic ones. (Japan made TY discs are preferred; but I'll take almost anything as long as it isn't generic/store brand).

-My CD-RW drive doesn't seem to like Maxell brand CDs or the ones with gold on their burning surface.

- No High speed burning (8X max).

- Keep in touch if there are problems/issues/delays.

- Please be honest!

- If you initiate the trade, you send first if I don't know you, or haven't traded with you before.

- I don't mind filler, just tell me where it's from.

- Please put a note in saying what show you have sent me, and do not write on the discs unless you write in the center telling me what number it is.

- Please use bubble mailers and not fiber ones.

- Please, NO MP3 sourced shows, however I do accept FLACs and SHNs.

- All of the shows listed below are in Audio format, I can easily put them in SHN format if you want them that way.

-I'm not into doing large trades for the most part.  A few shows at the most and no more than 3 at once.

-This list is constantly being updated, so check back frequently!

B+P's: I'm usually willing to b+p or trade any of the shows on my list; depending on how busy I am. Standard b+p rules apply, if unsure look here: [www.mcnichol.com/bnp/]

If you would rather just send postage and a return address label in a bubble mailer that is fine too.

Just write, Please reuse, do not rip open on the back of the package if you use a single bubble mailer.

Please do not send money instead of postage.

Please include a note telling me which show you want me to burn for you and include your e-mail on it.

Also Sony CD's usually give me coasters.

*I am always looking for Allman Brothers/Derek Trucks/Gov't Mule shows. Especially Captain Skipper remasters.*

3 CD-R I: AudMR > CD > EAC > WAV > SHN; II: AudMR > C > DAT > CD > EAC > WAV >SHN Weinberg recorded each set of this show on its own reel. Both were in very delicate condition at the time of the transfer (Summer 2001). The set two reel was degraded so much in sound quality (a tremendous loss of high end frequencies) that it proved better to used an older cassette copy of the set two reel for this new distribution. Also, Sing Me Back Home, Sugar Magnolia, and Casey Jones had been recorded over on the master reel at some point prior to the Summer 2001 digital transfer. Evidence of the current state of the set two reel can be heard on the set two intro, the first 23 seconds of Bertha, and the set two outro, which do come from the master reel.

2 CD-R RoIO titled-M-502 Known Flaws: If there's any surface noise on this, I can't hear it. May be a little at the start of disc 2, but this is a non-issue. The original recording does sound slightly "overdriven"; there is some mild distortion on the loudest parts of the first set. Also, as i mentioned in the RoIO millionaire contest, cymbaline fades in around the second verse. There is also a bit of static in 'green is the color'; this is mic noise caused by the taper, and is in the original. Overall sound quality is a solid 9 out of 10, with the only penalty being for the above flaws. ooh... those cymbals! The performance: Wow. This seems to be the only concert with the brass/choir on Atom Heart Mother where the brass section didn't make any mistakes! Also, the 18+ minute version of A Saucerful of Secrets is probably the definitive version of this song. Did I mention that this is my favorite version of Careful With That Axe, Eugene? Roger's doesn't scream, he roars. Hold on to your hat.

Reims Cathedral
Reims, France
2 CD-R DAUD the following info can be found in various places on the internet: The group's cache received a boost when, on December 13, 1974, they were invited to play in Rheims Cathedral, the Gothic surroundings of which were perfectly approriate to their sound. However, when the expected crowd of 1,500 swelled to nearer 6,000, intractable problems arose in the jammed-tight pews. "What do you do if you want to go to the rest-room and you can't move?" asks Froese rhetorically. Gallic fans, demonstrating the charm and hygiene for which the French are renowned worldwide, pissed copiously against the 12th century pillars of the cathedral in which French kings were once crowned. Not unnaturally, worshippers complained about "pagan music" and "drug and alcohol orgies", and demanded a purification ceremony to restore the place to more like a cathedral than a lavatory.
