NB. Please note first of all - I am in the UK; this doesn't mean that I can't/won't trade with you (transatlantic post is simple enough to do, & a lot of my best shows came from great US-based traders), but it seems only fair to point this out upfront.

I have recently had a major review of my CDR collection (too much music, nowhere to store it!), and one of the consequences of this was that I have given away 60-70% of my collection (my trader contacts will be quick to spot this!) - as of 26th Nov 2004, this list is still halfway through being shortened to its correct state; I will update this text when it's complete.

I am now only looking for shows on my want list, plus any new/rare shows that appear for my favourite artists (ABB, Dead, Zeppelin etc.) - feel free to write, but don't be upset if you don't have anything I want! B&P's?are very welcome as ever...?

02/11/70 Fillmore East (Early Show) NY CDR 1 SBD: MR > ?? > CDR Mountain//Jam

Superb sound quality

Taped by Owsley Stanley - tracks from this show (and 2/13/70 & 2/14/70) make up the official CD, "Fillmore East Feb 70" (on Grateful Dead Records)
05/02/70 Swarthmore College PA CDR 2 SBD: MR > ?? > CDR First min of Statesboro Blues from an inferior (AUD?) source
Mountain Jam cuts after 13 mins

Thom Doucette guests on harmonica on Stormy Monday, as well as an unidentified horn player

VERY trebly sound at times (some over-saturation in high EQ), but an excellent & varied setlist
07/26/70 S.U.N.Y. Gym NY CDR 1 SBD: MR>??>CDR Also circulates as 10/23/70 - there has been some doubt over the exact date (due to the presence of the embryonic version of YDLM which, apparently, didn't debut until Oct '70), but Duane does introduce Elizabeth Reed as "a song off our forthcoming album" (Idlewild South was released in Sept '70). Also I've heard (via Clay P) that Capt Skipper is CERTAIN that this is 7/26/70 so, contrary to the entry for the later date, that's what it is!
09/23/70 Fillmore East NY VCD 1 Master video > ?? > Mpeg VCD Taken from low-gen video source - one continuous (no track markers) mpeg file; 34 mins overall

Gregg's vocals very low until midway through Dreams, the camerawork is terrible (managed to miss practically all of Duane's solos!) but this is still a classic slice of rock history
12/31/70 The Warehouse LA CDR 2 AUD: ??> CDR One or two cuts, dips in quality (Revival is noticeably poorer than rest of source) and taper chat in-between songs notwithstanding, this is a pretty good stereo audience recording for 1970.

Interesting setlist (Dimples, Oh Pretty Woman) & a very well-played show; Mountain Jam in particular is absolutely stunning (22 mins pre-Drums!), but sadly cuts shortly thereafter...
01/31/71 Fillmore West CA CDR 2 SBD: MR>??>CDR Missing Statesboro Blues opener

Definitely one of the better Duane-era ABB source tapes i've heard so far
01/31/71 Fillmore West CA CDR 2 SBD: MR > ?? > Capt Skipper remaster > CDR CaptSkipper Re-Master - includes Statesboro Blues (clipped at beginning).

"Punchier" sound than original tape; also, pitch is more consistent.

Some digi-skips & tics on last 3 tracks of d1.
03/20/71 The Warehouse LA CDR 3 SBD>??>CDR (D3 is Capt Skipper remaster) Original circulating source for d1 & d2, Capt Skipper remaster for d3 (Mountain Jam)
A-/B+ rating for discs 1 & 2 (varies from track to track), A- for d3.

06/27/71 Fillmore East NY CDR 1 SBD: MR>??>CDR Crystal-clear sound; the best-sounding '71 ABB tapes I've heard outside the Fillmore East album
08/26/71 A&R Studios NY CDR 1 SBD : MR>FM>??>CDR
09/16/71 The Warehouse LA CDR 3 AUD: MR > ?? > CDR This is the Capt Skipper remaster - sound IS cleaner & sharper, but the patch from 6/27/71 in Whipping Post is a semitone higher than the rest of the track & not really to my tastes

Until a composite appears of my two available versions of this show, you pays your money & takes your choice, as to which you prefer!
10/15/71 Syria Mosque PA CDR 1 AUD: MR > ?? > CD > Capt Skipper remaster > CDR This is my second version of this show - the Capt Skipper remaster.

Hiss and unnecessary treble have been reduced (there isn't a great deal of high end on the original recording, except for audience noise) and the bass (which was close to overpowering on my original copy) has also had a certain amount of EQ rolled-off it, making it much tighter & less boomy. The end result is excellent - the band is much more "present" & upfront on this version, and the overall ambience of the tape is now akin to a slightly flat & boxy-sounding SBD recording; a considerable improvement to the old version, and much easier & more enjoyable to listen to.
04/07/72 Manley Fieldhouse NY CDR 2 SBD-FM: MR (WAER broadcast) > ?? > CDR Very interesting to hear how the five man band copes with the longer numbers - one can almost hear Duane's "phantom" solo during Whipping Post
06/25/91 Hammersmith Odeon England CDR 2 SBD: pre-FM? > ?? > CDR Recorded by BBC Radio One for broadcast (2 one-hour specials)

Jack Pearson is a great guitarist (plays EXCELLENT slide, in a completely unique style) & also a very good singer, with a sweet, but bluesy voice

03/18/04 Beacon Theater NY CDR 2 AUD: TBC > CDR Rob Romano's ("taperrob") recording - if anyone has the lineage details, please LMK!

Superb show, not only for the new covers (Gilded Splinters and Afro Blue), but for the EAP-styled crescendo, with which Derek & Warren come into Mountain Jam pt2 at the end of the show.

Transfer Info:
CD > EAC (secure mode, offset corrected) > Nero Wave Editor (removal of a few of the larger glitches)
> CD Wave (re-cut track boundaries) > SHN

NOTE(S):
1) In respect of the Gong material, five separate tracks are listed on
the original album cover, though this material is banded into only four
separate tracks on the source pirate CD. Rather than attempt to
second-guess the location of the "missing" fifth track (and the markers on
the source CD are rather arbitrary and haphazardly placed in relation to the
music in any event), I have made the decision to allow this material
to run as a single track and at least maintain a continuity.

2) Contrary to what the cover says, the order of The Pink Fairies tracks
is as above.

3) Several tracks on this collection have since been released elsewhere,
such as the cuts by the Grateful Dead and David Bowie.

In order to preserve whatever integrity there was to the original
mixes and remain true to listeners remembrances of the Glastonbury Fayre LP,
I have used the original album cuts; this has meant using edited
versions of tracks (Dark Star) or inferior sound quality tracks (The
Supermen) in places, though I hope you will agree with me that, for the
benefit of capturing a moment in time, it was worth it!

Sounds like two separate sources - source 1 (Schoolgirl, BIODTL & Baby Blue) is much cleaner & quieter, source 2 is a lot louder but exhibits a lot of "swirling" noise in the higher frequencies (has some sort of NR been applied?)

SQ is really rather good for a 1970 audience tape (& a Zep aud too); this is a borderline A- show, helped by the stereo separation.
01/12/75 Voorst National Belgium CDR 2 AUD: MR > ?? > CDR From the "Alternate Master" bootleg - a poor recording, but includes very rare live LZ performances of The Wanton Song & When The Levee Breaks.
02/12/75 Madison Square Garden NY CDR 3 SBD: MR > ?? > Boot CD > CDR Sourced from the "Flying Circus" bootleg (Empress Valley) - sounds pretty good throughout, though there are numerous mix snafus all through the show.

Although this certainly does NOT deserve the A+ sound rating other traders give this one, it is a good recording, and probably about as hi-fi as non-official live Zep gets!

05/24/75 Earl's Court England SHN 2 SBD: MR > ?? > Bootleg CD > CDR Liberated" from the "He Must Be Dazed & Confused" bootleg release on the Empress Valley label.

Mostly SBD, with a few AUD patches - SBD source sounds like it is mono videotape source, rather than a true stereo mixing desk tape; the mix moves around quite a bit throughout(with bass & drums always relegated to the back), but it is a clean, relatively hiss-free recording & one of the better LZ "SBD's" I've heard.

Performance is excellent!

I was disappointed with the sound of this show - despite it being allegedly the holy grail of live Zep AUD recordings, sound is marred by harsh, metallic high-end EQ, which makes listening at high volume a pain, rather than a pleasure

Excellent-sounding SBD - mix is slightly biased towards Keith (no bad thing)

14 tracks - Star Star is at the end, and sourced from an AUD tape, from the sound of it.

10/05/68 Fillmore East NY CDR 2 SBD: MR > ?? > CDR Sounds like a "pro" SBD recording, intended for future release - only the presence of some overload on the first disc stops this from being an A+ quality recording.

Musically, this is S&TFS at the top of the game - both Dance To The Music medleys are incendiary!

- lineage: SHN or FLAC or silver CD > WAV > Audacity Audio Editor v.1.2.2 > AIFF > FLAC

This year Brian Wilson has finished, performed and re-recorded his long lost masterpiece SMiLE. In a few days, his new studio recorded rendition, is released. Comparisons to the 1966-1967 recordings are bound to be debated. This 'Reconstruction' features the original vintage recordings, re-arranged to match the 2004 arrangement. I used the best available sources and re-edited, corrected speed, eq-ed, etc., to match the 3-movement flow that is the 2004 version.
