Darrin's additional notes on fixed anomalies:
Using my trusty copy of soundforge, I've fixed the first 2 of three (near
track boundary) errors identified by Bob Murphy on his copy of 10.29.73
(msr>c>d) ...
The 3 errors identified are as follows:
1. after cold rain & snow (d1t1), there is a kind of a mechanical thumping
sound, most prevalent in the right channel during the between-song crowd noise
just before a tape stop. I merely cut this sub-second fragment out -- easy
and painless.
2. At the transition between Eyes and China Doll, at the end of one of the
Phil Bombs, there is a analog-sounding "clunk" at/around the former track
boundary. Here, there was no tape stoppage, this "error" is either on the
analog reels/cassette or is a multi-frame digital problem (though it sure
doesn't LOOK digital in nature when I zoom in on it). On this one, I cut out
the ~1/10 of a second worth of "bad sound" at the end of the Bomb and smoothed
the transition at the splice. I'm pretty comfortable with my fix on this
track, but would be happy to create small "before" and "after" shns to send
to anybody interested in checking this out.
3. Bob has identified a third problem between Bertha and Greatest Story. I
haven't had the opportunity to fix this one yet, but should do so tonite.
I'll post my observations on this one later (and will make "before" and
"after" versions available too, if necessary).
Feel free to contact me with comments/requests to check out my editing.
