Changes made (Nero 7 7 8):
Cross-mixed all tracks (80:20)
- Fixed 'hole' in middle of stereo image, instruments clearer, noise reduced
Reduced Right channel by 10-15% to centre stereo image
Fixed balance changes during tracks
Fixed a few minor digi-glitches
Smoothed out transitions between tracks
Volume increase +1dB
...then (Nero 8)
Phase correction +0.03msec
Reduced LH level to 95% to further centre stereo image
Re-tracked
Added flac tags using the included Folder.jpg artwork
and then fixed clipping and balance swings of track 05
Not fixed:
Abrupt cut at the end of The Eleven (tr04)
Consistent (not too high) hiss throughout - couldn't get a noise print that worked
Did not use the poorer sounding Matrix tracks from original post
Quality: An amazing A++ considering the vintage
---------------------------------------------------
The original post sounded really good, but had a typical late 60's mix with instruments
extreme left / right plus a hole in the middle of the stereo image and also phasey /
boomy bass, all of which I fixed (details above).
The last 3 tracks are also released as official bonus tracks on Anthem of the Sun also
on the offical "Two from the Vault" of the next night's performance as a 2007 bonus
third disk of, so I only posted tracks 01-05, but I have clearance from GEMS that these
are OK to include. I have also taken the opportunity to fix some issues on track05, but
have kept the original torrent and file names so if you have that, already, then you can
join in around 50%.
I've also included a 2sec audience overlap called 'Alligator (intro)' so you can edit in
the (slghtly better sounding) official tracks instead if you have the minor editing or
cross-fade skills,
Now you have a truly wonderful quality recording and (IMHO) the best 'classic' Dead
performance that I've heard....
Enjoy !!
