Review for the 8/13/79 audience recording at archive.org:
Reviewer: JJSNWMF
Subject: The move from Wet Rocks
Played on 8/13/79, this was to have been the 2nd of 3 nights at Red Rocks. But the rain began to fall during the 2nd set of the first night and, unfortunately, continued for the next two nights. But, the change in the weather didn't dampen the spirits of all who had set this on their calendar months before and made the trek to see the band on the 'Rocks' in the middle of the summer of '79. All were grateful for the show still going on, as Bobby's comments indicated, and thankful to the crew that tore down the set at RR and re-assembled it all in McNichols amidst the rain and a very short timeline. 'And the band kept playin' on.' As mentioned, great and rare, (for that time period), Shakedown open. Althea and Lost Sailor being slowly introduced as new songs in back-to-back nights, (we know the songwriting faction of the band were not the most prolific songwriting teams in the 80's. But what they did put together held up fine through the years after.) The Other One jams were becoming increasingly refreshing as Brent introduced new sounds to the psychedelic passion of Other One-chaos. Finishing the show with Truckin'-Nobody's Fault but My Own-Truckin' close with Sugar Mag for dessert was a sweet touch. You could tell the band was not denying the faithful crowd an all-out show despite the wet conditions. And they were even willing to move back to Red Rocks the next night, if the weather had improved - which it didn't. But a great show which made up for the disappointment and difficulties of not having all 3 nights in Red Rocks. Thanks to the band, the crew and the good recording of a memorable night in the Rockies. 4-star rating plus a big smile for all the positive energies and those who didn't whine. - JesterJSNWMF
