Notes:

Interleve material was used for two earlier nights on this historic
run.  Bird Song and Me and Bobby McGee were patched with April 28
and the Jam in China > Rider was patched with April 27th.

This version of this classic show provides the listener with an
absolutley uncut listening experience.  Besides the edits on the 3
cut songs all between song segements (crowd cheer and/or tuning) has
been patched or edited to run completely unitirupted and smooth.
Created with love in order to allow the listener the most pleasant
listening experience of this alltime classic show.

Notes:

You will enjoy this smooth version of this classic show.  Besides
the inclusion of the missing material in Bird Song, Me & Bobby McGee
and the jam btwn ChinaCat > Rider all the between song segments have
been patched or seemlessly smoothed.  This represents the most
complete version to date.

The cassettes ware made from reported master reels made from a hidden
location at the Fillmore.  The cassettes had cuts in a varity of spots
but fortunetely not in the same spots.  The fidelity from the cassette
recordings were obviously not on par with the rest of the master reel
source.  Therefore I decided to patch in just the missing portions
and not the entire songs.  I tried to make the source switch as smooth
as possible.  I did this with multiple edits including crossfades,
adjusting the speed, volume with some noise reduction and EQing.  The
results, although not perfect, are not that bad.  Better than those
infamouse cuts and missing material.  Having smooth btwn song
transisitions makes this a major upgrade in my book.

04/04/2006 Andrew Long SBE's on d2t04, d2t08, d3t07 and final track (trivial).
04/04/2006 Charlie Miller How can the master reels have the cuts, but the cassettes don't? That is impossible of the cassettes came off of the reels...cm
04/06/2006 Greg Yurkovic So, according to the comments at this shn entry (which apparently is the same source, the patches are from *different shows*?
04/06/2006 Diana Gary wrote on the redundant version that had been listed:
"This has the same md5 as shn id 33565. Additionally, I don't think that compilations of several different shows belong in the database at all." I removed the other shnid; someone has been submitting the fileset multiple extra times and one extra got through. If there is some kind of alternate text file, please email it to me for incorporation into this entry, rather than submitting a new entry. BTW if this is a date compilation being presented as a "sort-of" single date, it *should* be listed as a heads up. But if it's just a "4/27, 4/28, 4/29 stored on a single DVD" type entry, that would not belong.
04/06/2006 Greg Yurkovic Diana, according to amdig1's post on the torrent comments section, it is indeed 4/29 patched with other dates: Thanks to all, I am glad you all enjoyed the April Fools torrent. A TON of work for a little gag....I have done the same thing in patching other dates from April 1971. 4/4, 4/5 and 4/6. I also spruced up 12/5/71. Meticulously editing out all the between song fades, in and out (which DRIVE ME CRAZY). I also did a 'skin graft' on the cut in Case (sic) Jones.
I don't know where you can find the new text file ... it wasn't incorporated into the torrent details (yet.)
04/06/2006 Diana Well then it definitely needs to be here as a heads up to its fakeness, if only to serve as a cautionary flag for the inevitable recirculation over the next several years. Funny. :/
04/06/2006 Diana Updated info is included above.
04/07/2006 Dan This version as been patched with interleave material. This is still more than 99% April 29, 1971 with approx 2min and 15sec of patched source. The hoax was the "unearthed cassette version" off a cut master. I honestly thought it would have been picked up and joked about immediately. I sent the real text file and MD5 file for the db but it took allot longer than usual to create the entry.

Either way I hope people really enjoy this version. I spent days seamlessly patching this sucker. I can upload the cut songs to replace that patched version if there is interest. Either way enjoy a very clean version of 4-29-71. I also understand the purists who like 'as is' and like to have the original warts intact. The jumps between songs, abrupt volume changes, reel cuts and unpatched cut tunes. The unedited version can be found here:

http://www.gdlive.com/shn/gd71-04-29.shnf/

You can also just replace the patched tunes (bird song, bobby mcgee and china>rider) and enjoy all the other benefits done to 4/29/71 if you do not like the interleave material.
07/08/2010 charlie miller I find it odd that this copy has more downloads on the torrent sites than the real complete version that I circulated. Makes no sense.
