As Walden College president Brewster King of Doonesbury once remarked to himself, "Tired. Very tired. A need for many martinis."
I used the LlaMA AUD download of this show (shnid 5984) to do the following patches. All editing was done in Cool Edit Pro; the AUD source for many patches was pitch and volume adjusted in varying degrees, too often to record or remember. Crossfades were used in most patches, except where crowd noise was being patched. Emphasis was placed on what would result in the best sound as opposed to minimizing the use of AUD.
SET 1
- patched in beginning of MS Half Step
- patched dropouts in Franklins Tower at the very beginning, about 3:09, 3:11, 3:26 and 3:49.
- patched in beginning of Minglewood
- patched in beginning of Peggy-O
- patches in Cassidy from 0:54-4:39 and 5:14-5:41
- last 12 seconds of tuning before Big RR Blues and first 19 seconds of same, as well as dropout at the end
- tuning just before and first 4 seconds of Might as Well
- crowd noise at end of Might as Well (mixed with SBD) and Bobby's break announcement (last few words just AUD).
SET 2
- patched dropouts in Let it Grow at 11:21 and 11.23
- patched in a short part of the transition between Eyes and drums; no pitch correction needed
- patch in The Other One from ~5:35-5:54
- patch at 8:02 in Stella Blue provides remainder of song. AUD also provides remainder of show. Patch from Stella to end of Sugar Mag pitch stretched to 101.6%. Casey Jones encore was not pitch adjusted.
NOT FIXED: Barely audible dropout at 8:19 in Other One just before Stella Blue. I was too bushed to do any more, sorry.
I also made the transition between CDs 2 and 3 seamless. shntool was used to fix resulting SBEs and to verify sector boundaries. Many thanks to the seeder of the original SBD source for noting the various dropouts and gaps.
(note: Sugar Mag and Casey Jones from AUD source featured heavy pitch correction, before I did anything to them, due to batteries dying on the tapers deck. You can hear the constant tug-of-war between the ever-rising pitch of the original source and the pitch correction trying to keep it in check. Thanks to whomever did all the hard work to make these tracks listenable again.)

When this source was first circulated, the flac files contained
REPLAYGAIN tags. The wav files compressed inside the flac files are
fine, but if you listen to the flac files themselves using a player
like WinAMP, these tags cause all the tracks to be played at the same
volume. That's not good for concerts where some tracks are supposed to
be louder than others.
There's a new version of this source available. It has exactly the
same wav files; it's just the flac wrapper that's different, the
wrapper doesn't have REPLAYGAIN set anymore. The new version has the
same ffp file (since the wav's are the same), but a new md5 file
(since the flac files are different). The md5 file for the old source
is called "orig-flac-replaygain-md5"; the md5 file for the good new
source is called "flac-md5". If you have a source for this that
matches the ffp, you can create the new source by unflac'ing the old
source and then recompressing at flac level 8 using the flac command
line tool or the flac frontend.
From now on, only the new version of the source should be circulated.
